Event Recap | U-KT assisted the Xiamen University alumni reunion party in Suzhou, discussing the new future of biomedicine.

 On March 14, 2025, an extraordinary fellowship wine party was grandly held by the Jinji Lake in Suzhou. As a sponsor of this event, U-KT Medical felt honored to witness the alumni from Xiamen University in the biopharmaceutical field gathering from all over the world to participate in this grand occasion. Even though the weather was not pleasant and light rain fell, it did not hinder the enthusiasm of nearly a hundred alumni; the event venue was still bustling with activity, filled with a joyful and enthusiastic atmosphere of communication among the alumni.

During the  U-KT event, the sharing from outstanding alumni was full of valuable insights and greatly beneficial. Alumni Chen Xiaowu from the class of 1980 in Chemistry shared his unique perspectives based on his many years of living in both China and the United States. Having worked for 19 years at Gilead Sciences in the U.S., he now focuses on innovative drug research and development for cardiovascular/metabolic antiviral treatments. His sharing of the similarities and differences between life and work in China and the U.S. opened new horizons for the alumni present.

Jiang Xinpo, an alumnus of the 84th level marine biology school, shared his professional transition throughout his career. From marine biology classification to research on physiological neural mechanisms, and then to drug development and cell therapy, each of his steps has been filled with challenges and opportunities. Particularly, his experience in promoting legendary biological development has been deeply admired by everyone for his learning ability and industry experience.

Class of '87 alumni from the biology department, Ye Hong, shared her work on Alzheimer's drug research. After resigning from her university teaching position, she focused on research and development in this field, and now owns two companies that specialize in small molecule drugs and plant-based traditional Chinese medicine. She explained in an accessible manner the mechanisms of action of active small molecule compounds and their effects on cognitive improvement, and also thoughtfully reminded everyone to pay attention to the impact of psychological stress on brain health.

He Ting, a graduate of the 8th class of the School of Life Sciences, is the founder of Yimiao Shenzhou and has achieved remarkable success in the CAR-T field. He shared his thoughts during the capital winter based on his entrepreneurial experience, suggesting that everyone should interact more with state-owned institutions to gain support from state capital.

 In addition, Dai Xiaobing, the co-chairman of the Jiangsu Branch of the Xiamen University Biomedicine Alumni Association and the chairman and CEO of Suzhou Yida Biology, also shared the development history of the Biomedicine Alumni Association and his personal work experience, encouraging young people to strive actively. Yida Biology has achieved remarkable results in the field of cell electroporation instruments, and recently made a significant breakthrough in drug delivery efficiency of exosomes, making an important contribution to the development of the industry.

 After the sharing session, the alumni entered a mode of free communication. Some were old friends reuniting, reminiscing about past campus stories; others met new acquaintances, discussing insights about their industries. Alumni working in various fields of the life and health industry, along with their friends, took this opportunity during the gathering to engage in friendly exchanges and light interactions. Through these conversations, not only did they deepen their friendships, but they also gained a lot in terms of project collaboration, information sharing, and business development.

Finally, before becoming tipsy, the alumni took an unforgettable group photo together. This alumni drinks event was jointly planned and promoted by the Xiamen University Shanghai Alumni Association, the Long Triangle Alumni Association of the School of Life Sciences at Xiamen University (also known as the Shanghai Alumni Association Life Sciences Division), the Jiaying Society of the Xiamen University Shanghai Alumni Association, and the Xiamen University Long Triangle Alumni Equity Investment Association, with the event hosted by the Xiamen University Life Sciences Long Triangle Alumni Association.
